Heighten Cantrip

Prerequisite: Magus level 2, Technomantic Staff OR Golem Familiar

A heightened cantrip has a higher spell level than normal (up to a maximum of 9th level). Unlike other meta-technomancy feats, Heighten Cantrip actually increases the effective level of the cantrip that it modifies. All effects dependent on spell level (such as saving throw DCs and ability to penetrate a lesser globe of invulnerability) are calculated according to the heightened level. The heightened cantrip is as difficult to prepare and cast as a cantrip of its effective level.

If the magus casting the heightened cantrip is bonded with a technomantic staff, the heightened cantrip takes a -1 caster level penalty (apply this penalty AFTER applying this feat’s effects), as if the staff had granted a caster level bonus on a cantrip in the round prior to the one during which the heightened cantrip is cast.

If the magus casting the heightened cantrip is bonded with a golem familiar, the golem takes a -1 penalty on all attacks, special attacks requiring a roll, saving throws, and skill checks from the end of the round during which the heightened cantrip is cast until the beginning of the magus’ next turn.

Special: Only cantrips of levels 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 may be heightened, and only by one spell level.
