Cloak of the Martyr
This hooded cape shimmers with blood-red velvet.
Once per day, the wearer of Cloak of the Martyr may designate one creature friendly to him. For the following 24 hours, the chosen creature takes only half damage from all wounds and attacks (including that dealt by special abilities) that deal hit point damage. The amount of damage not taken by the warded creature is taken by you. Forms of harm that do not involve hit points, such as charm effects, temporary ability damage, level draining, and death effects, are not affected. If the subject suffers a reduction of hit points from a lowered Constitution score, the reduction is not split with you because it is not hit point damage. At the end of the 24 hour period, subsequent damage is no longer divided between the subject and you, but damage already split is not reassigned to the subject, and the wearer may designate another creature or the same creature as the recipient of this ability.
In addition, the wearer receives a + 1 deflection bonus to AC and a + 1 resistance bonus on saves.

When first investigating this curious cloak, I wasn’t sure if it was created by High Elven wizards or by one of their Elemental or necromantic cousins. While it catches and throws light in breathtaking ways, its true power lies in allowing its wearer to possess his or her allies and throw them out of—or into—harm’s way. —Maleficius
